Making Me Laugh

All my kids know it doesn't take much to make me laugh. I'm a happy girl (most of the time). Besides that they are all pretty witty and I have a simple sense of humor.

There is a really hilarious blog out there that is a spoof on Barack's teleprompter. I've been reading it for a while now because ... well, it is very funny. With Obamanation steam rolling over our conservative values at break neck speed you just have to find relief and something in it to laugh about.

Apparently MSNBC did an interview with the blog's ghost writer. Funny stuff. But the blog is even funnier. Be sure to click over and have some laughs for yourself.

That is, if you don't appreciate the plastic man in the suit now running the nation in the ground.

Things you won't see in the MSM about Obama

Here is a blurb from writer Andrew Smith in an opinion piece published in the Chronicle Herald online. Full article can be found here.

I find it amazing that the MSM continues to absolutely ignore Obama's lies (yes I said lies because there is no other word to describe his blatant dishonesty), ignore his aggressive and massive move toward a socialist state, and his outrageous hypocrisy. Just today he was talking about tax evaders and adding 800 jobs at the IRS to go after them with none other than Timmy Terrific Geithner standing on his right. Tim had a little tax evasion issue for those unaware.

So here is a small selection of news on the most powerful man on Earth which has been deemed unfit to print:

•Obama’s first two major bills alone, the "stimulus" and "omnibus," cost nearly twice as much as was spent on Iraq over six years – $1.2 trillion vs. $650 billion.

•Obama abandoned his campaign promise of "a net spending cut," his first annual deficit – not counting bailouts – being three times the worst deficit under President George W. Bush.

•Obama’s objective in his first G20 summit – commitments to spend our way to prosperity with massive stimulus boondoggles across the G20 – was rejected out of hand.

•Obama’s objective in his first NATO summit – commitments to combat troops for Afghanistan from "our European allies," which Obama and his party imagined were ready and willing to fight if only someone "enlightened" like him were running things – was predictably refused, with some more European non-combat contingents offered as a token.

•Obama’s Defence Department announced cuts of $1.4 billion to missile defence, the day after North Korea test-fired its long-range, multi-stage ballistic missile.

•Obama’s economics were criticized by Warren Buffet, whose endorsement had been candidate Obama’s highest economic credential.

•Obama reversed the free trade Bush policy that had allowed about 100 Mexican tractor-trailers into the United States, which the Mexican government immediately used as an excuse to levy tariffs on 90 American goods amounting to $2.4 billion in U.S. exports.

•Obama’s "tax cuts for 95 per cent" turned out to mean $13 a week from June to December, to be clawed back to $8 a week in January – as compared with President Bush’s 2008 tax rebates of $600 to $1,200 plus $300 per child, which were notably scoffed at during the election campaign by Michelle Obama.

•Obama’s campaign promise of a $3,000-per-employee tax credit for businesses that hired new workers – repeated ad nauseam for weeks before the election – was discreetly retired even before inauguration day.

•Obama abandoned his campaign promise that "lobbyists won’t work in my White House," waiving his no-lobbyist executive order or conveniently re-

defining his appointees’ past lobbying work to allow 30 lobbyists into his administration.

•Obama abandoned his campaign promise to reform earmarks, signing the omnibus bill which contained 8,816 of them.

•Obama took more money from AIG than any other politician in 2008 – over $100,000 – and signed into law the provision guaranteeing the AIG bonuses which later had him in front of the cameras "shaking with outrage" and siccing the pitchfork crowd on law-abiding citizens who had fulfilled their end of a contract and had their payment upheld by Obama’s own legislation.

Why should these points, and many more like them, have to be made by some obscure contributor to The Chronicle Herald’s opinion pages?

It's NOT Over

Don't listen to big media the NON stimulus bill is not a done deal. It has to go back to conference committee and then be agreed upon by the House and Senate. Keep calling your Senators and Congressman.

More and more info is coming out about the hidden plans and programs in this bill. Things like the Health Care issue Meems linked an article to in her last post. The left is trying to circumvent the American process of debate and dicourse and ram this through as quickly as possible. We all know that the spending in this bill is out of control, and now we are finding out there is legislation that has nothing to do with stimulus or the economy and effects other areas of our domestic policy. THIS IS NOT HOW POLICY IS SUPPOSED TO BE LEGISLATED.

Where is the transparency that Barrack promised? Where are the ethical restraints? Where is the compromise and unity? It is completely missing.

Please I know it takes time, but let your voice be heard. The roars are growing louder and even though it seems to be falling on deaf ears it will only take a few votes to switch to stop this horrible train wreck. Every minute this bill is held up in the process the dissaproval of the American people grows greater. These legislators are in a position to serve us, the people, not dictate policy. Let them know firmly that they need to listen to our opinion.

Lastly I leave you with this from the late Dr. Adrian Rogers.

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that, my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.
You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

What Happened to "Yes We Can"?

Geez, just on our third week of the new President and already all we hear from him and his cohorts is that America is going down on a sinking ship ... never to recover. Well, that is, if we don't pass his super-duper Porkulus Spending Bill. Fear tactics! Isn't that what he accused Pres. Bush of doing?

Gary Bauer did a comparison of the President and the Pilot on his radio show. I've copied what he wrote about it here:

On the Bauer and Rose Siris-XM radio show this weekend, we ran a montage of quotes from U.S. Airways pilot Captain Chesley “Sulley” Sullenberger about his landing on the Hudson River. Perhaps you watched his interview on 60 Minutes last night. Like millions of Americans, I was struck by his remarkably calm demeanor as he told the air traffic controllers at Laguardia Airport that he was going to land his Airbus A320 on the Hudson River.

Now compare Sulley’s calm, cool and collected manner to the demeanor of our president as he tries to sell us his trillion-dollar pork bill. In recent weeks, President Obama has declared that the economy “is getting worse, not better.” He warned that by not passing his spending bill we “will turn a crisis into a catastrophe,” from which we may never recover.

And it seems that every elected Democrat has suddenly turned into a prophet of doom, joining Obama in a chorus of despair. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the economy “is dark, darker, darkest.” Another senior Democrat warned that the economy was “in mortal danger of absolute collapse.” One senator declared that without the so-called stimulus bill, “it’s Armageddon.”

When did “Yes we can” suddenly become “The end is near”? The contrast between the pilot’s calm leadership and the president’s “Chicken Little” panic is striking. But that’s what experience does for you. Captain Sullenberger’s Air Force training and decades of flight experience obviously served him well. His flight skills and leadership were remarkable, and he performed brilliantly under tremendous stress and pressure.

Just three weeks into the job, and the former community organizer turned commander-in-chief looks like he’s on the verge of cracking up. I suspect a lot of voters may be looking for a refund. They bought into the hype about “hope,” and so far all we’ve gotten is a lot of fear-mongering and scare tactics."

I for one would be so much more confident if I was hearing Yes We Can come out of this recession without the government mortgaging my family's future away.

Also, here's an article summarizing how health care will be effected by the so-called stimulus plan. You 'll want to read this one.

It's MY money, I Want to Choose How to Spend It

B.O. got a good public chuckle last night on national TV as he chided all the opposers of his "spending bill". Among many of his mockingly scolding remarks, including the sure demise of our country if we don't pass his NON-stimulus bill, he laughed AT (so did his audience) opposers who call his bill a "spending bill" as he arrogantly reminded us "that is the point, we need to spend money to stimulate the economy." (I'm not quoting exactly and don't have time to look it up ... but it's close... and equally as infuriating.)

NO. NO. NO.

Not true!

In a FREE country, the PEOPLE CHOOSE how to spend THEIR money. We don't send our money to the GOVERNMENT and LET THEM CHOOSE!

Let me keep more of my money and I WILL stimulate the economy.

Oh, he also scolded people for listening to cable-chatter. He isn't talking about those folks who have given him a pass on every single blunder and background check. No, he is talking about the conservative talk shows and those who aren't licking his boots.

He peddled his economic advisors as THE BEST in the world. And put the burden on the Senate to listen to these so-called experts. Ahem... there are plenty of world's best economic advisors HE ISN'T LISTENING TO THAT COMPLETELY OPPOSE HIS PACKAGE!

Oh, and BTW his newest economic advisor is the Chairman of GE. The largest lobbying group in the world.

We all better be listening to what B.O. is REALLY saying!

$937,000,000,000 is the latest figure, folks.

More Hopey Changey

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth!" Ronald Reagan

In case you missed Glenn Beck's opener yesterday (I did, too) to his new TV program ... he used his whole hour to highlight America's March to Socialism... thanks to YouTube you can see it now...

Glenn Beck's show airs everyday at 5:00 EST on Fox News.

It's really vital that we stay up to date on how this slippery slope to socialism can actually happen to our great United States of America.

Some of the rhetoric we heard during the "Hopey-Changey" campaign sounds so nice. Even now it sounds so nice.

Gee, why shouldn't all those fat-cat corporate execs have a salary cap that limits executive salaries to $500,000 at any institution that accepted a government bailout? Because, my friends, as Gary Bauer reminds us "a government big enough to run Wall Street will end up running your street too."

Is that what we want?"

Bauer goes on to say, "We aren’t in trouble because some bankers are overpaid. We are in trouble because we have a government that continually grows and demands more and more of your hard-earned money. In addition, it has ordered many banks to make bad business decisions based on liberal social engineering. The subprime mortgage meltdown can be traced back to liberal Big Government policies and programs. Unfortunately, the same people who created this mess are in charge of fixing it today! Before the sun sets today, your federal government will waste more money than all the salaries of Wall Street executives put together."

"Government is like a baby. An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other. " Ronald Reagan

STAY INFORMED!

Use Your Voice!

It is imperative that each person who opposes the ridiculous "spending" bill that is before the Senate right now make contact with your Senators. The American people might actually be paying attention to this finally. The statistics are now saying that the majority of taxpaying Americans are against the bill. There is very little in this bill which will stimulate the economy.

We should all keep standing up for TAX CUTS until we see them. The tax burden on most of us is just so overbearing we are going under paying for BIG GOVERNMENT already.

Here is a link to Gary Bauer's site that writes the letter for you to your senators. You only have two to contact. It will take you all of five minutes. Please take the time to do this TODAY.

If you need more facts on the NON-stimulus stimulus bill you can read the last post on this subject for links to see exactly where Obama proposes the money be spent.

I've also copied some bullet points from Gary Bauer's newsletter below:

• The bill represents the biggest single expenditure in American history -- ever. Often referred to as an $800 billion bill, its price tag with interest is well over $1 trillion. And all that spending President Obama and the liberal Democrats are demanding in this one bill is in addition to, not part of, this year’s federal budget or this year’s federal deficit.
• The bill mandates huge increases in discretionary spending, which, if passed, will become part of future federal expenditures. Any attempt to pare back will be decried by hysterical liberals and reporters as “drastic, draconian cuts.”
• Here’s some perspective: Everyone concedes that George W. Bush spent too much money. But it took the Bush Administration more than two years and a global war on radical Islamic terrorism in the wake of the 9/11 attacks to increase the national debt by more than one trillion dollars. President Obama is on track to do it in his first month in office!

Lastly, it is important to know that Republican Senator McConnell’s disastrous GOP mortgage entitlement proposal IS NOT THE ANSWER either.

Just Say NO to Big Government

Let's all shout out a great BIG thank you to 100% of the Republican Representatives that voted against the NON-stimulus stimulus package yesterday!

I'm so proud they stood up for what they believed. UNANIMOUSLY, folks. That's a huge message to the the fiscally irresponsible side that wants to mortgage away the next few generations' futures. There were also 11 Democrats who voted "no" to their new President's "change and hope" (NOT) plan.

From Gary Bauer's daily newsletter here is an excerpt from Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) of a press release he issued yesterday:

“Our nation is facing a serious economic crisis, but the Democrats in Congress have offered a purely partisan bill that does not incorporate bipartisan recommendations. The American people deserve to know that the president’s call for a compromise has been completely ignored by House Democrats who would use a time of national economic crisis to fund their big government priorities under the guise of stimulating the economy. …The Democrat bill won’t stimulate anything but more government and more debt.”

Admittedly, our economic problems are great right now but they are not insurmountable. America can overcome these times but we must stand up for what we believe to be our founding principles of free market and capitalism.

Read here for an idea on a bi-partisan STIMULUS plan. Let's start talking about what will really cause the economy to be stimulated.

I liked what Michelle Malkin had to say last night after the vote in her daily blog:
"Today Was A Good Day for Conservatism":
"There’s no mystery in how best to rebuild the party and energize the base: Talk like conservatives. Walk like conservatives. Vote like conservatives."

Now we head to the Senate for a vote.

The NON-Stimulus Stimulus Package

Update Wednesday Evening January 28:
Bad news: The bill has just passed the House of Representatives.
Now it will go to the Senate.
The good news: Not one single Republican voted for it. Good for them.

Yeas: 244
Nays: 188 EVERY SINGLE Republican and including 11 Democrats

Government is NOT the answer!

It is imperative that every citizen of the United States with one iota's worth of common sense and any shred of fiscal conservative fiber in your body give your state Representatives a call today or contact by e-mail. When you do --- urge them to vote NO for the (NON) stimulus package today.

You can look up the name and contact information of your Representative here. Please, Please take a few minutes of your morning to do this today.

Taken from Glenn Beck's research information:

What is the money being spent on-general breakdown between infrastructure, tax cuts, etc…? Some highlights of the package, by the numbers:

• $825 billion total (as of 1/15/09)
• $550 billion in new spending, described as thoughtful and carefully targeted priority investments with unprecedented accountability measures built in.

$20 billion to increase the food stamp benefit by over 13% in order to help defray rising food costs.

Taxes

Individuals: *$500 per worker, $1,000 per couple tax cut for two years, costing about $140 billion.
*Greater access to the $1,000-per-child tax credit for the working poor.

*An infusion of cash into money-losing companies by allowing them to claim tax credits on past profits dating back five years instead of two.
*Bonus depreciation for businesses investing in new plants and equipment
*Doubling of the amount small businesses can write off for capital investments and new equipment purchases.
*Allowing businesses to claim a tax credit for hiring disconnected youth and veterans

When is the money going to be spent, and on what?

The government wouldn't be able to spend at least one-fourth of a proposed $825 billion economic stimulus plan until after 2010, according to a preliminary report by the Congressional Business Office that suggests it may take longer than expected to boost the economy.

The government would spend about $26 billion of the money this year and $110 billion more next year, the report said. About $103 billion would be spent in 2011, while $53 billion would be spent in 2012 and $63 billion between 2013 and 2019.

• Less than $5 billion of the $30 billion set aside for highway spending would be spent within the next two years, the CBO said.
• Only $26 billion out of $274 billion in infrastructure spending would be delivered into the economy by the Sept. 30 end of the budget year, just 7 percent.
• Just one in seven dollars of a huge $18.5 billion investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy programs would be spent within a year and a half.
• About $907 million of a $6 billion plan to expand broadband access in rural and other underserved areas would be spent by 2011, CBO said.
• Just one-fourth of clean drinking water projects can be completed by October of next year.
• $275 billion worth of tax cuts to 95 percent of filers and a huge infusion of help for state governments is to be distributed into the economy more quickly. [Note: The CBO's analysis applied only to 40 percent of the overall stimulus bill, and doesn't cover tax cuts or efforts; a CBO report outlining all of its costs is expected in the next week or so.]
• The Obama administration said $3 of every $4 in the package should be spent within 18 months to have maximum impact on jobs and taxpayers; if House or Senate versions of the bill do not spend the money as quickly, the White House will work with lawmakers to achieve the goal of spending 75% of the overall package over the next year and a half.

[Source: AP: Three-quarters of stimulus to go in 18 months; January 22, 2009; Bloomberg News: Much of Stimulus Wont Be Spent Before 2011, CBO Says; January 20, 2009; link]

Who will be spending the money? Will the states be receiving any money to spend, community organizations? Churches?

The economic stimulus plan now moving through Congress would shower billions of federal dollars on state and local governments desperate for cash:
• The House stimulus bill includes an extra $87 billion in federal aid to state Medicaid programs. • It allots some $120 billion to boost state and city education programs.
• There's $4 billion for state and local anticrime initiatives in the legislation, not to mention $30-plus billion for highways and other infrastructure projects.
• $6.9 billion to help state and local governments make investments that make them more energy efficient and reduce carbon emissions.
• $87 billion to states, increasing through the end of FY 2010 the share of Medicaid costs the Federal government reimburses all states by 4.8 percent, with extra relief tied to rates of unemployment.
• $120 billion to states and school districts to stabilize budgets and prevent tax increases and deep cuts to critical education programs. Overall, about one-quarter of the entire $825 billion recovery package would be devoted to activities crucial to governors, mayors, and local school boards - making them among the plans biggest beneficiaries.

Seeing Red

Is the country still conservative?
Ann Coulter had this to say in her latest article published through Human Events. "For the first time in 32 years, Democrats got more than 50 percent of the country to vote for their candidate in a national election, and now they want to lecture the Republican Party on how to win elections. Liberal Republicans have joined them, both groups hoping no one will notice that we just lost this election by running the candidate they chose for us. "
I'm not hearing that little piece of news on any major news networks are you? Maybe I missed it.
Since the election, I've tried my best to tune out the MSM. I'm getting my news from the Internet mostly but on occasion we still turn on Fox News (sometimes CNN just for fun) for a few minutes just to hear the headlines. It has amazed me how the Dems are gloating... really gloating.... at every turn with panels trying to determine why Republicans lost and going on and on with their theories of what we need to do to re-make our party or even as some suggest make the party survive. Pleeeez ... would it be the liberal media we would take our advice from?

I've even noticed on some Christian blogs suggestions to target certain age groups and sectors of peoples in order to regain our power. Nonsense. Our main problem with this election and so many other races was the watered down messages of moderates and so-called mavericks. We need politicians who understand exactly what they believe and that are able to articulate it without backing down! Don't we just need to stick with our conservative values and not waver from them? Not only promoting them in speech but we need to LIVE them. We can't be the ones fighting for less government and then also the ones bailing out every "too big to fail company" that is going under.
Here's the way Rush Limbaugh states it in his response to Andrea Mitchell's question to her panel ... MITCHELL: Is the party over?...Republicans have to resolve their identity crisis....Or should the party align itself with traditional conservatives?
Rush: "We can get women, we can get everybody with a set of core principles that we do not abandon that benefit everybody, regardless the color of their skin or their gender! That was from yesterday, and I stand by that.
We start going after groups of Americans, the middle class, Wal-Mart people and then the Kmart people and let's go get the Starbucks crowd and let's go get this group, Hispanics. Loser -- we just did that! We just did it. The architects of this should be disqualified from running another Republican campaign. Set of core principles that improve life for every human being in the country, and you will attract them, I don't care where they were born, I don't care what their skin color is, what their gender is, what their sexual orientation, none of that. You attract enough of them to win."

Let's get back to the principles that Ronald Reagan not only championed but unapologetically and with a backbone of steel served our nation by:
Principle: Government limits the growth and dreams of the people. Larger government is antithetical to the very nature of a free people.
"It is no coincidence that our present troubles parallel and are proportionate to the intervention and intrusion in our lives that result from unnecessary and excessive growth of government. It is time for us to realize that we’re too great a nation to limit ourselves to small dreams. We’re not, as some would have us believe, doomed to an inevitable decline. I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing. So, with all the creative energy at our command, let us begin an era of national renewal. Let us renew our determination, our courage, and our strength. And let us renew our faith and our hope."

Hope That Doesn't Disappoint

Still puzzled, still reeling, still analyzing the fact that the kool-aid drinking masses are following a man all the way to the White House who can preach with a silvery tongue but with little substance to his words and certainly no record to back them up. So, in contemplating BHO’s rise to power it’s occurred to me that I have never given much thought to his relentless campaign marketing message of hope. Every time I heard it during the campaign I blew it off as part of his election rhetoric. You know, a campaign slogan that sounded nice. It just never stirred me or made me stop and wonder if I wanted his hand-out of hope.

It’s more important to me to find out where a candidate stands on issues and then I look at his character to be sure he has proof to back up what he says. But at this point that is beside the point. What keeps coming to me now is Lord have mercy on us all if the majority of his voters were so desperate for some kind of hope that they fell for his preaching of it without any real answers for it. In other words, it makes me think there are a whole lot of hopeless folks out there. Hopeless spiritually.

There is NOT A MAN on the face of the earth who has the power to pass out true hope. Besides, I’m not looking and no one should be looking to ‘A MAN’ for hope. I’m for certain not looking to ANYONE IN GOVERNMENT for hope. So BHO’s message of hope never lured me with his mesmerizing and eloquent (read: so many lies) words.

There’s only One who can impart the kind of HOPE every one of us needs. There’s only one kind of CHANGE that can make HOPE real in our practical life. CHANGE comes to those with a sincere heart. HOPE comes as a result of a yielded heart to the lordship of Jesus Christ. Our government was fashioned to serve the people and uphold our constitution, not to be our ruler or our keeper nor an institution to impart hope.

4 And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation.
5 Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us. Romans 5

For some reason, I’ve not thought one single time “we need to remake our nation.” From BHO’s acceptance speech, “I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.” Really?

Granted, some things need to change. But when is that ever not going to be the case? There’s always room for change. Every election cycle promises change. Since when has any one man, seeking one office offered all the answers?

And just what in the world does this mean? Again from his acceptance speech, “For that is the true genius of America – that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.”

Crock. Of. Circular. Words.

There’s a new slogan going around the conservative circles. Keep the change.

This Historic, Inspirational Disaster

A writer says so well what rolls around in my head but I haven't been able to articulate.
Borrowed this from Iowahawk.
Election Analysis:
America Can Take Pride In This Historic, Inspirational Disaster
November 6, 2008
Although I have not always been the most outspoken advocate of President-Elect Barack Obama, today I would like to congratulate him and add my voice to the millions of fellow citizens who are celebrating his historic and frightening election victory. I don't care whether you are a conservative or a liberal -- when you saw this inspiring young African-American rise to our nation's highest office I hope you felt the same sense of patriotic pride that I experienced, no matter how hard you were hyperventilating with deep existential dread.
borrowed from Michelle Malkin's blog)
Yes, I know there are probably other African-Americans much better qualified and prepared for the presidency. Much, much better qualified. Hundreds, easily, if not thousands, and without any troubling ties to radical lunatics and Chicago mobsters. Gary Coleman comes to mind. But let's not let that distract us from the fact that Mr. Obama's election represents a profound, positive milestone in our country's struggle to overcome its long legacy of racial divisions and bigotry. It reminds us of how far we've come, and it's something everyone in our nation should celebrate in whatever little time we now have left.

Less than fifty years ago, African-Americans were barred from public universities, restaurants, and even drinking fountains in many parts of the country. On Tuesday we came together and transcended that shameful legacy, electing an African-American to the country's top job -- which, in fact, appears to be his first actual job. Certainly, it doesn't mean that racism has disappeared in America, but it is an undeniable mark of progress that a majority of voters no longer consider skin color nor a dangerously gullible naivete as a barrier to the presidency.
It's also heartening to realize that as president Mr. Obama will soon be working hand-in-hand with a former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard like Senator Robert Byrd to craft the incoherent and destructive programs that will plunge the American economy into a nightmare of full-blown sustained depression. As Vice President-Elect Joe Biden has repeatedly warned, there will be difficult times ahead and the programs will not always be popular, or even sane. But as we look out over the wreckage of bankrupt coal companies, nationalized banks, and hyperinflation, we can always look back with sustained pride on the great National Reconciliation of 2008. Call me an optimist, but I like to think when America's breadlines erupt into riots it will be because of our shared starvation, not the differences in our color.

It's obvious that this newfound pride is not confined to Americans alone. All across the world, Mr. Obama's election has helped mend America's tattered image as a racist, violent cowboy, willing to retaliate with bombs at the slightest provocation. The huge outpouring of international support following the election shows that America can still win new friendships while rebuilding its old ones, and provides Mr. Obama with unprecedented diplomatic leverage over our remaining enemies.
When Russian tanks start pouring into eastern Europe and Iranian missiles begin raining down on Jerusalem, their leaders will know they will be facing a man who not only conquered America's racial divide but the hearts of the entire Cannes film community. And those Al Qaeda terrorists plotting a dirty nuke or chemical attack on San Francisco face a stark new reality: while they may no longer need to worry about US Marines, they are looking down the barrel of a strongly worded diplomatic condemnation by a Europe fully united in their deep sympathy for surviving Americans.
So for now, let's put politics aside and celebrate this historic milestone. In his famous speech at the Lincoln Memorial 45 years ago, Dr. King said "I have a dream that one day my children will live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Let us now take pride that Tuesday we Americans proved that neither thing matters anymore.

Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled

Ok folks we stood up and fought for what we believed to be right. We stuck to our principles, our morals, and our ideals. We defended, in the best way we knew how, the Constitution and the founding principles this country was based on. We came up short this time around.

I find myself disheartened that the American people preferred handouts and government intervention to good old fashioned hard work, discipline, and helping our fellow man on our own, and not through government means.

However, I will not be dismayed. I believe this is a wake up call for conservatives and Republicans. This country just voted in a very inexperienced freshman Sen. who according to his record is extremely left in his ideology. However, for that Sen. to get himself elected he had to turn hard right on every major issue. This is a man that ran his entire campaign based on a 95% tax CUT. Now we have discussed the merits of that cut, but the point is he ran as a tax cutter, budget balancer, 2nd Amendment protector. Again I think his record proves otherwise, but the point is he knew he must shift and shift hard to the right to win. He also spent more money than any other candidate in history to get elected 3 times that of what GWB spent.

And when it was all said and done he garnered a mere few hundred thousand votes more than did GWB.

Taking a look around the country at the different referendums that were on the ballots conservatives won big. Even in liberal California Prop 8 passed.

Folks the point is this. We are still a center right country. Our job now is to make sure it stays that way. That this country does not move further left and further down the road of wanting the government to handle every decision. I believe, I truly do, that most Americans do want to be free to make their own decisions and to work hard and enjoy the success they achieve. I just believe they bought the rhetoric over the substance.

I have long stood with McCain on this blog because he was our choice and we needed to be united behind him, but I can now say that he was not my first choice. The field this cycle for Republicans was not very inspiring.

It is time we support and look for candidates that will truly carry our message and articulate it well. When that happens you see real landslides like Ronald Reagan's crushing win of 528-13 in '84. Let's not look for candidates that are safe and in the middle. Let's vote forward candidates that are strong allies to conservatism, to smaller government, to balanced budgets, and strong national security.

The Democrats are going to get their chance to show us what they are made of. I know most of us aren't going to like the results. I don't think most of America will either and we will soon have another opportunity to put conservatives in power. Let's not sit by and squander that chance.

With that note it is time to start looking ahead to 2010 and 2012. Check out Bobby Jindal out of Louisiana, a true conservative who can articulate the message and has radically cleaned up a very corrupt state.

We will survive this time in our history and with continued effort, hard work, and relentless clinging to our conservative ideals we will right the ship.

Ronald Reagan Where Are You?

I've owned and proudly displayed an American flag off and on many of the years we've lived in this house. Although it has been a while since I had one due to the fact I won't fly one that gets ratty on the edges. I bought another one last week with a sense of urgency to hang it before election day. I can't really explain that but I felt a definite need to see it waving in the breeze. I absolutely get emotional to contemplate all it stands for.

Today, I am truly at a loss for words. I know, hard to believe.

It has been a difficult day. I honestly think I'm a bit heartbroken over the results of the election. Is that possible? I know I'm dismayed and discouraged to say the least. I'm doing my best to lay it down at God's feet, knowing He is still on the throne. In my heart I know He will take care of His own no matter what.

Truthfully, I keep picturing the precious faces of my grandchildren. They have gone about their business during this election process and even today with the results known as innocents should be allowed to do. They trust the adults in their life to take care of them. To protect their world. To keep it safe. To make decisions that will increase their chances for success.

I don't believe they are going to grow up in the America our forefathers intended when they penned our beloved constitution. It is hard for me to imagine trying to explain to them how America used her sacred voting privilege to elect a man who promised everything with empty words that will actually take away their freedoms.

Did I say I had no words?

I've read some articles today that say it much better than I ever could.

The American Thinker has an article today with a fairly decent rundown of why McCain lost. You can read it in its entirety but here's an excerpt: "The first thing that needs to be said is this: John McCain is really a Reagan Democrat. He joined the Republican Party in Arizona years ago because people like him (patriotic, military background, self-consciously anti-Communist) had no future in the Democratic Party, and he remained a Republican since then, but anyone who watches his demeanor and speeches cannot avoid the conclusion that this is a man much more comfortable with traditional lunch-bucket arguments and policies than the generally more abstract, data-based analyses favored by Republicans. "

And then there is this from a wise jewish writer:
We Should Know Better
Peggy Shapiro
"I cannot watch television as the world is turned upside down in a religious frenzy over the new "Messiah." On banners, signs, tee shirts, and pins are the single word slogans of "Hope" and "Change." With no earthbound basis, no accomplishments, no proven deeds for belief in the new leader, the devotees of Obamania believe in HIM with the leap of faith that was once due GOD. Among the revelers are many conscientious and well-meaning Jews, who should know better. We should know how a charismatic speaker can promise citizens "hope" and unleash "change" that represses and then crushes. We should know that we have experienced and almost perished as a people as a result of blindly following another false Messiah.

Then there is this by S. E. Cupp and his take on values voters... (by the way where were they yesterday?)
How is it that a prisoner of war, who wrote of finding God at the Hanoi Hilton, who's denounced torture methods on other prisoners of war by Americans, who is pro-life, against gay marriage, an adoptive parent, and a self-proclaimed Christian, is thought of as anything other than Christian? The short answer: John McCain did not do enough to convince values voters he spoke their language."

But, truthfully, a ray of hope lit in my heart when I read Gary Bauer's report today. This man has worked tirelessly for so many election cycles for the conservative family values I hold dear. When his daily newsletter popped up in my inbox, it was like a cool drink of water to my parched brain today. He continues to come up with a positive word. Here is a portion of it...

"I’m sure many of you are depressed and dispirited. I understand. I am down too. But I urge you not to spend your time wallowing in defeat. Some may choose to waste their energy pointing fingers and forming circular firing squads. That’s not what Ronald Reagan did in 1976, and petty vindictiveness does not build up effective coalitions or win elections. We live in a free country.

There will be other elections. In the meantime, there will be major battles over life, marriage, war and peace, taxes, judges and a host of things we can’t even anticipate right now. After 2000 and 2004, the radical Left did not fold up and go away quietly. It immediately redoubled its efforts to defeat us. Leftwing groups organized, raised money, registered voters and, finally, yesterday they succeeded. Will we be as tough and committed as they were? Or will we slink away demoralized and defeated? I have already made my decision. I intend to fight! "
So I'm going to fight! I'm going to hold on to my core conservative values and not let up in the search for the true representations of our party! The defeat of John McCain highlights the fact that we don't need to try to reach across the aisle... we need to stand strong and have some backbone. This isn't the end. We will be back.

Every Vote Matters Nov. 4

"It isn't important who is ahead at one time or another
in either an election or horse race. It's the horse
that comes in first at the finish line that counts".
Harry S. Truman, 1948

One of the reasons I don't really agree in entirety with the early voting process is that there are things that come up within two weeks of an election that could alter a decision one way or another. Obama knows that--- which is why he passionately urged his congregations of followers at every turn to "go right now to the polls".

The following "bit of news" which was a Jan 17 recorded interview by the San Francisco Chronicle somehow kept out of the press until this weekend is a good example.

The coal industry provides 49% of the energy in America!!!

Isn't this ... can we say, interesting? I sure hope all you folks that think you are going to get a tax break under Obama's deceptive economic plan are paying attention! So you get a check from the government and then your electricity rates skyrocket... that's the CHANGE we want, right!

Obama:
"You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers."

Get out tomorrow and vote if you haven't already. Much precious blood has been spilled for the privilege and honor it is to cast your individual vote and it is not to be taken lightly. Every valid and honest vote matters.

Then... go to starbucks and have yourself a FREE cup of coffee.

I'll be keeping myself VERY busy tomorrow (away from the media frenzy) trying not to obsess over the outcome. It will be what it is and I'm doing my best to prepare myself (emotionally and spiritually) for the decision no matter how it turns out.

Presidential Election Is Not A Done Deal

I am out of state visiting with my sister and trying very hard not to be consumed with the political intensity. I pulled the lever this week after standing in line for two hours and I must say, it is a privilege not to be taken lightly. Every election I am overwhelmed with the reality of this and the feeling I get at the moments I am exercising this precious freedom.

Today's newsletter from Gary Bauer was an encouraging report I thought I'd share:

Public Opinion Strategies is a polling firm doing private polls for Senator John McCain’s campaign. In recent days, their polling shows a dramatic narrowing of the gap between Senator McCain and Barack Obama. I have permission to share some of the details with you. The bottom line is simply this – the race is too close to call. Don’t believe Big Media and the Obama operatives who are trying to discourage you and, by doing so, suppress the conservative vote.

In the past seven days, Senator McCain has made up significant ground against his rival. The gains have come among rural voters (men and women), men who are not college graduates, right to life voters and “soft” Democrats. Working class women in households making less than $60,000 a year are moving in McCain’s direction. (Thank you, Joe the Plumber!) In addition, 14% of the public is still “in play.” Seven percent describe themselves as “undecided” and seven percent have a “soft” attachment to their candidate. These last 72 hours will determine the outcome.

If you need more evidence, guess where Senator Obama is today? Iowa – the very state that launched his campaign with a dramatic caucus victory! For weeks, every poll has shown Iowa to be a lost cause for McCain. Bush barely carried it in 2004. But McCain’s internal polling has indicated it is close. If Obama has gone back there for a rally, then his polling must show that it is up for grabs too!

So in these final three days before Election Day, don’t give in to the constant Obama propaganda. Each of you must try to find one voter you can switch. Talk to a son or daughter who have bought into Obamamania. Talk to a wavering neighbor.

The other day I heard from a small businessman who called his six employees together and shared with them the consequences of Senator Obama’s tax policies: If Obama implements his promised tax hikes, two of them would have to go for the business to remain profitable. Of course, he told them they were free to vote for whomever they choose, but he wanted to make sure they understood the possible consequences.

Let me leave you with this last example. Yesterday, Joe Biden and Sarah Palin both campaigned in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, another key battleground state. According to Salon.com, not exactly a rightwing rag, Biden drew a crowd of 400 to the college campus gymnasium. Sarah Palin drew a crowd of “13,000 people to an outdoor baseball stadium in the near-freezing cold.”

We can win this, my friends!

Why Conservatives Must Vote for McCain/Palin

We have made a strong case about why no one should vote for Barrack Obama. Meems has laid out the case as to why we should not be discouraged by the polls and the media attempting to dampen the spirits of conservative voters. I would like to make the case for why we must vote for McCain/Palin.

I have heard talk from conservatives (local friends and national talk show hosts) considering their options in this election and trying to decide between voting for McCain, voting third party, or sitting out. I believe the only choice for conservatives and all Republicans is voting for McCain.

I consider myself a conservative first, both fiscally and socially. My ideology most aligns with the principles of the Republican party and therefore I mostly vote Rep. When the Rep's get it right, and adhere to the conservative ideals that made the party, it is an easy choice for me. However, I understand that many conservatives feel disenfranchised by the party. We blew it when we took control of congress and got away from some of the ideals that got us there. President Bush has unfortunately done too much spending while in office and has not reduced the size of government the way I would have liked. However, he is not evil, as Hollywood and the MSM would have us believe. He has done a lot of good, but this isn't about him. It is about the direction this country is about to take and the implications it has for us all.

First I believe sitting out is not an option. I believe we have a duty to vote as Americans and everyone should excercise that right. Sitting on the sidelines will simply help Barrack Obama. He wants conservatives sitting on the sideline. I will always excercise my right to vote, granted to me by the blood of patriots.

Second I don't think Nov 4. is the time to voice our displeasure with the party by voting third party. Again this is exactly what the Dems want us to do. So that they can take control of the congress and the White House, and implement their plan of socialism on the American people whether we like it or not. The time for voicing displeasure is during the years leading up to these very important elections and during the primary process by supporting and voting for those candidates which most align with our conservative ideals. If you don't like the direction the Rep party is taking then get involved, voice your opinion and support and encourage candidates that are true conservatives.

Third John McCain does represent our ideals, and he will listen to the people. He has a track record of not doing what is politically expediant and putting the country first. He understands that lower taxes, cutting earmarks, and reducing the size of government is the way out of this economic crisis. He understands that the fundamental principles which have made us the most prosperous nation on earth still work and will work. He believes in the American people not the government to get this turned around. He has shown us that he cares about the most conservative among us by choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate, awoman who exemplifies everything that we hold dear as conservatives. John McCain understands that we are fighting a real and evil enemy and that we must take the fight to them, but he also understands the importance of the lives of our soldiers and what it means to be put in harms way. In a time like this we need a man who will not be swayed simply by party ideology, but will put the people and the country first.

Lastly and as important as any reason for voting for John McCain is that the next POTUS could very likely nominate 2 to 3 SCOTUS justices. McCain adheres to the belief that any judge to be nominated for the highest court in the land must adhere strictly to the Constitution of the United States. Dear readers this is vitally imporant. The direction and face of the court could be radically changed by the next president. The court decides on cases that determine whether laws are Constitutional or not. Our rights as Americans, our freedoms are at stake here. From censorship of conservative talk radio, to abortion, to the 2nd Amendment, to many more. Obama did not vote for and tried to fillibuster the nominations of Alito and Roberts, two highly qualified justices because of his ideology. He put his ideology of socialism above the qualifications of the judges. If he has his way the court will be altered severely to the left with judges that do not adhere to our Constitution, but that agree with Obama's ideology that the Constitution is flawed. If we allow this to happen we will reap the consequences of a radically different America.

So go to the polls and do your duty to vote as an American. Honor the brave men and women who have spilled their blood in defense of freedom, and vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin. Let our voices be heard that we are still a nation that believes in the founding principles of this nation, and that we still hold dear the sacred document that has enabled us to be the greatest nation in the history of the world. Then after Obama is defeated and we have our man in the White House stay involved and continue to let your voice be heard. Let the party know we want them to live up to the ideals that made it what it is.

Countdown to Election Day

The liberal media is in full spin mode to help depress the Republican vote, Republican donors and Republican enthusiam. I know, that isn't news. I imagine them to do a full court press this week. What is a full court press anyway? I don't know... something to do with basketball strategy, I think.... it sounded appropriate for the moment. :-) We MUST keep smiling!

I'm purposely not listening and reading as much about the election. It is easy to fall into their trap of feeling disheartened. But, don't you see, that is what the people with the microphones in hand want us to feel! Just like in 2000 and in 2004, NO MEDIA can predict the number of voters like you and like me who ALWAYS vote. And we always vote conservative!

Don't give up, people! Keep your heart and your head (and your words) up as we travel down this last week of what has felt like a long journey to the Nov. 4 election.

Polls have their place but this election is so different from any other in history, even the professional pollsters have admitted they are somewhat baffled at the demographics. The IBD polling data is looking good and from what I understand they were one of the most accurate in 2000 and 2004.

I've heard so many bedraggled McCain supporters voicing their discouragement. Don't let what the MSM has been doing with their propaganda (truthfully since Bush was elected 8 years ago -- they've been working on us) of doom and gloom for McCain get you down. I don't think McCain/Palin are depressed and we need to help hold them up as they cross the finish line!

... if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)
