Thieves

It was only a matter of time before my McCain sign was stolen out of my yard. In fact it took longer than I thought. It has been replaced, and we now have back ups. Seems by this picture I am not the only one, I would like to put this sign in my yard.

That sign makes me laugh.

Update, they stole another one today. This time they had to walk all the way up my walk way to the front corner of my porch as we put this one much closer to the house. I am thinking about putting a video camera up or just parking my truck out back where it can't be seen and working from home tomorrow afternoon.

That sign is hysterical. I think Doc Ford needs one of those for his yard...his McCain sign was nabbed too!

I like that guy's new sign... no one can miss that message.

I bet brown dog had a barking fit when they stole the sign closer to the house.

You know, I have to admit I've actually had those thoughts... like, gosh, I'd like to take down that Obama sign. But then I quickly remind myself... no, this is America! Having differing opinions on who we think will make the next best President is part of our rights as Americans!!!

So put up your signs... just leave mine alone, too. AND let's pray the majority doesn't want Obama to be President!!!

My sign hasn't been bothered... it is out by the mail box which I hesitated to do since it could easily be snatched that close to the street. However, the only other guy on our street who has put out a sign (for either party)had his McCain/Palin sign surrounded by several Obama/Biden signs one morning last week. All he had to do was remove the Obama signs. No harm done. He is a lot closer to the cross street than we are...I guess thieves or vandals aren't as brave to come nearer to the dead end where we are.

I'd really hate to think about you using your 2nd amendment rights over a sign ... I'm just saying...

I wasn't planning on actually shooting them, just driving the point home by making them stare down the business end of a Glock .40. ;):)

I should clarify for those that do not know me and my humor. I was just messin’ with meems. I am an avid believer in our right to keep and bear arms. I am an avid hunter, and shooter, and exercise that right granted to me by our Constitution. However, with gun ownership comes a great responsibility. At no time should anyone ever brandish, draw or point a weapon at a human unless their life is threatened. In the case of life being threatened, yours or others, I am fully for the use of deadly force. However, just using a gun to threaten or intimidate is wrong. Someone taking a yard sign does not warrant pulling a gun. It does warrant being confronted and having the police called if I catch them.

funny sign. i can't believe people would steal election signs.

it is funny that the sign reads Palin-McCain, rather than McCain-Palin. guess she really has become the big ticket winner. whatever it takes!

okay, guns, right to bear arms, protecting private property by whatever means, it really is not so funny! it's been reported that BHO's claim that people are calling out 'kill him' and other threats at Palin rallies cannot be proven and no witnesses can be found to substantiate his statements. His camp seems to be the ones harrassing anyone who opposes him. Bill O'Reilly said tonight that he fears the media take over or even the founding of completely one-sided air waves if BHO is elected. what have we come to as a nation? are we on the brink of complete chaos or loss of our safety and rights? we don't need to act like the bullies to defeat them! just let your patience prevail until 11/4! we could have the last laugh yet!

NT: Good think I know you well and knew you weren't serious... keep us up to date if you do the stake out!

Hey Marmee- What's it looking like up in your neck of the woods? I'm talking about signage. Honestly down here I think there are more McCain signs overall... I see lots of businesses (small ones I might add) with those huge (the ones that are erected with a wood frame- no one could pull them out of the ground)signs along HWY 41. I've not seen a single BHO sign at any businesses.

S. Tampa seemed to be a little more even but McCain might even have the edge there too.

Just wondering about your observations... I know some places don't allow signs of any kind.

The stake out was unsuccessful. I do have a new plan though. Going to hook the metal frame of the sign up to a cattle fence power pack. Someone is going to be in for a very big SHOCK if they try to grab it.

discovered this tidbit on 970WFLA - Ted Webb's page:

A listener emails this in;

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I 've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient needed money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.

My comment: this is too funny! wish it was this simple to convince the masses how entitlements really work out!

NT: Yikes... that's when you need to have that camera going.

Pilgrim: Thanks for that contribution! Great story - it is classic and perfectly inserted here. A great example of how it really does work ... and hey-- who's to say where it stops... this whole confiscating someone else's earnings to hand out to another one who hasn't earned either anything or not as much is just ludicrous.

Thanks for sharing that story Pilgrim.

I often wonder why people think that they won't be the ones effected by the tax increases taht it is OK for the people who are. Where did this mentality of punishing success come from. It is a very disturbing trend.

we are the bible belt so a lot of mccain/palin signs we have two out at our road. if you drive in the projects of franklin there are obama/biden. no sign stealing that i have heard about though. i found a different bumper sticker to replace my W sticker. it is a pair of lips with lipstick on that says mcpalin for president. it has gotten some interesting reactions.

While looking for the final Rays score this morning (I feel asleep in the 8th inning) I found this article:

Sign Theft Spurs Creative Retort

By RAY REYES

Published: October 23, 2008

TAMPA - When several Seminole Heights residents noticed last week that their Barack Obama signs were missing from their front yards, they decided to relay a message to the sign snatchers.

"You can steal our signs but not our votes."

So say the freshly painted placards that are popping up along West Fern Street near North Florida and North Central avenues to replace the 19 Obama-Biden signs that went missing.

"This election is turning kind of crazy and scary," said Peter Fingar, 62, a lifelong West Fern Street resident. "This isn't Nazi Germany. Let people express their opinions."

Fingar noticed his and his neighbors' Obama signs had been removed from their yards about 11 p.m. Oct. 16. Angry residents talked about possible retaliation against John McCain and Sarah Palin supporters in the neighborhood, said resident Lenard Sheffield.

"Caveman solutions" such as taking McCain signs - or even taking a baseball bat to the signage - were discussed, but Fingar's next-door neighbor came up with the classy solution, Sheffield said.

Police did not have a report of the Oct. 16 incident, but it is not uncommon for campaign signs to go missing in a presidential election year, Tampa police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.

Three painted signs have been posted so far on West Fern Street, with one on North Central Avenue, Fingar said. More are in the works to replace the stolen signs, he said.

I had a feeling that this was probably an issue on both sides...I find it funny that one side has been reported by the media, while the other not so much.

utterly hilarious. I can't believe I missed this before. Especially your gun disclaimer.
