Comfort: Worship Song of the Week

There are times in life when we turn to music for comfort. It will lead us to places in God we know we've been before and we know we want to go back to. Worship music is kind of like choosing the interstate to get with God instead of the backroads.

Music is God's creation. I believe He designed it for a few reasons but one of them is to give His children a tool that directly connects our soul and spirit to Him.

Listening to worship music or music that points our hearts in His direction is so powerful if we let it be. Think about the way we allow music (of any kind) to touch our emotions. If we listen to songs that draw us into old memories we can be transported to another time and place instantly in our minds. If we listen to music that makes us want to get up and dance... well, maybe you just might get up and dance. Whatever the case it is a matter of yielding our thoughts, and emotions and allowing the music to take us places.

This tool was intended to be used for good. It can be used to transport us to God's throne on a jet plane instead of by car. The same is true for music intended to take us places we shouldn't go. But my purpose today is to promote the tool of worship God has given us. We make the choice in life to take advantage of the music God has provided for His glory.

I looked around You Tube to find the best version of a song I've had on repeat in my i-pod all week.

I hope you find it as comforting and uplifting as I have.

The words are on the screen as the music plays but if you are like me you won't "watch" the video. I typically push play, open another browser and listen while I'm doing something else.

BUT if you want to get the most out of worship music... let the music move you. Let the words sink in to the places of your soul that need a healing balm.

All you have to do is yield your heart... God will do the rest.
