We're Routing For You, Sarah!

All week long I've had Sarah in my prayers and on my mind. On our way home today from our mini-vacation I listened to Rush - [much to hubby's dismay (he knows how this stuff gets me riled)] - a couple of times having to search for a new station as we moved out of the radar.

One of the important points Rush made today was how important it is that McCain/Palin voters don't get discouraged in these last 33 days with what we hear the MSM preaching. He was targeting some drive-by's that had the gall today to insinuate that the Presidential race is over... Obama being the winner... and their grounds being the Ohio early voting tallies. Such nonsense. BUT all this talk on every liberal media stream is meant to make the country think it isn't any use to even vote when obviously Obama is the winner.
HOGWASH!

I was just saying to my audience of one yesterday (again hubby-poor guy) how we mustn't get down and we mustn't feel like we have already lost. Much of what the MSM is touting is simply meant to demoralize McCain voters.
The polls are just that. They are polls. Not a good idea to pay attention to them too much whether they are in our favor or not.
We must keep praying firstly. Then we must stay positive with our thoughts and our speech. You never know whom you might influence along the way.
Everywhere we went this week we were coming across McCain supporters. We were visiting small town America, folks. I've maintained all along that the majority of hardworking, small town America HAS to favor McCain over Obama. Hubby says if they already get handouts from the government... probably not. But I'm talking about tax paying, working people here. Surely the difference between McCain and Obama is crystal clear to average America!

Rush made an interesting observation today that I'll leave you with. He brought out a speech from the 1976 Vice Presidential debate. Do you remember who that was? Mondale and Dole. Here's the opening statement from Democrat cadidate Mondale in 1976 (courtesy Rush Limbaugh):

Walter Mondale: "I believe that most Americans would agree on the problems this country faces and which the next administration must solve. They include the need, once again, for an economy that works. The economy today is in very, very bad shape, the highest unemployment since the Great Depression, 50% higher than when Mr. Ford took office, raging inflation. The latest wholesale price index is once again raising the specter of double-digit inflation. The purchasing power of the average American has slipped so much that it's now the equivalent of the purchasing power in 1965. It's not getting better, it's getting worse. All the leading indicators now point downward. Stock investors are losing confidence. Over $50 billion of value has disappeared from the stock market in less than a month. We need a government that works, we need a government that cares, and once again, we have to get back at work on education, on health, on housing, on the environment, on energy. And we need a foreign policy that once again reflects the values and the beliefs of the American people. This will take leadership, and we need leadership, too. The Republican administration, the Republican Party has had eight years to solve these problems. All of them have gotten worse. The Republican ticket does not offer new plans for their solution but is engaged in a frantic effort to defend the past. This nation desperately needs new leadership. The Carter-Mondale ticket would offer a new generation of leadership dedicated to solving the problems I have listed, and that is the basis of our appeal."

Rush went on to say: How much you want to bet it's almost identical to what Biden says tonight? Not just because Biden might plagiarize it. I mean, you hold out the likelihood that he'll plagiarize it, but how can it even be called plagiarizing when the same playbook is used for the last 60 years? It doesn't matter what the reality on the ground is, they lie, they try to panic and frighten everybody. Their playbook has not changed: doom, gloom, Great Depression, they offer change, and then what did we get? Jimmy Carter. And you want to talk about making it worse, Jimmy Carter, Barack Obama following in the footsteps of Jimmy Carter.

Same old. Same old.
Go Sarah! We are pulling for you tonight!

Sarah Palin has been in our thoughts and prayers all day, Meems.

We are going to a rally on Monday to hear her speak. I think she will be in your neck of the woods, too.

Patricia: More prayer. I didn't know Sarah would be here until your comment. Thanks so much... I've added a link for folks to get information on where she will be in Florida next week.

Now I will have to see about rearranging some things in order to get there too.

Sarah did great! she came off looking like a seasoned debater and nailed it! if debates actually make a difference (and this was certainly one that was being watched for any mess ups) Mrs. Palin should rest easy! she did us McCain/Palin conservatives proud!
you are right on about not letting the polls get to us. now is not the time to slack off in our faith, fervor or forward effort to lend support and credence to our candidates of choice. i actually wonder if this mess of the bailout won't lend some pump-up to John McCain's campaign in the long run. people are examing the facts more closely, and hopefully realizing that broader government programs with more spending, more taxes and greater control of the till of our tax dollars is never a good thing. if our government doesn't have a clue as to how we got in the mess we now find at the top, how can they responsibly handle even more proposed give outs to a broader spectrum of programs at our taxpayer expense? John McCain pledges to clean up the waste and greed from the top down. let's give him the opportunity to go after it and give us a return to the government "of the people, by the people and for the people", so help us God.

I think Sarah did well, and not just because the media had set low expectations for her. By any standard, she did well. She was debating a man who's been debating for a living for the past 35 years! Yes, she made some gaffes, wrong name here, avoiding the question there, but all in all, she did well.

Folks, we're not in Debate 101. We don't judge who "won" and who "lost" by the sweat on the forehead, the cadence of their speech, or their posture and body language. A skilled "debater" does not a good president make...maybe president of the debate club, but not President of the United States of America.

Biden is wrong on the issues. And to use his favorite word of the night: he is wrong on the "fundamentals." Paint it, spin it, sell it, detail it to death, dress up the debate in all it's silver-tongued finery...Obama/Biden is the wrong choice for America. Country first!!!

Lastly, all the media snark attacks on Palin "winking" is irritating me. I remember one wink...it was at HER DAD when she kindly spoke of him being a teacher and thanked him for being there that night. But in all the talks of winking, I haven't heard one person of the media mention that important contextual fact. Come on, people, do your jobs!
