Very Refreshing

I ran across this story today, and wanted to share. It is very refreshing to see someone sticking up for and to their moral values in the land of Hollywood. Good for you Kirk. I will probably go see his new movie just to support him.

In Kirk Cameron’s new movie, “Fireproof,” he has to kiss the actress playing his wife. That was a problem.
Cameron will not kiss any woman who is not his wife.
“I have a commitment not to kiss any other woman,” the former child star of “Growing Pains” told Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford Monday on TODAY in New York.

To get around the conflict, the filmmakers employed a bit of movie magic, Cameron explained. They dressed his wife, actress Chelsea Noble, like the movie’s female lead and shot the scene in silhouette.

“So when I’m kissing my wife, we’re actually husband and wife honoring marriage behind the scenes,” Cameron said as Gifford and Kotb melted from the romanticism of the moment.

Finding faith: An atheist growing up, Cameron became an evangelical Christian at the age of 17 while he was playing Mike Seaver on the popular sitcom “Growing Pains.” Noble was a co-star and his girlfriend on the show.

I've been thinking about this post and every time I do I'm reminded of Paul's constant exhortation to Christians in so many different places in scripture. He words and rewords the admonition to leave our old life behind and take up this new life God has given us through His Son.

Good for you, Kirk. It is rare (IMO) to see a complete turn around in Christian's lives. So often we are willing to give up some of the old habits but we hang on to our pet habits.

Kirk has made a stand for righteousness that most would view as "extreme" (especially Hollywood but even in ordinary folks' lifestyles) as few folks are willing to take the heat from misunderstanding public opinion when abstaining from our "human" and "pleasurable" vices.

Oswald Chambers: By regeneration the Son of God is formed in us, and in our physical life He has the same setting that He had on earth. Satan does not tempt us to do wrong things; he tempts us in order to make us lose what God has put into us by regeneration, viz., the possiblity of being of value to God.

Thanks for the spoiler! I've already seen the movie, and knew about this "wife swap" scene, but I wanted to be the one to spill the beans! I had teasers on my blog about it (where I promised to reveal a secret after the movie came out) and WHAM! Out comes the press and Nathan Talbot! Oh well.
