Honor for My Mom

Who is it that loves me and will love me forever
with an affection which no chance, no misery,
no crime of mine can do away?...
My dear mother, with the truthfulness of a
Mother’s heart, ministered to all my woes,
Outward and inward, and even against hope
Kept prophesying good.

Thomas Carlyle

President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. He established the day as a time for "public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country."
On this day devoted to public expression of mothers everywhere I want to recognize my mom and her tireless love to me and her family. Thank you, Mom for giving me life and for adding so much value to my life over the years with your gracious love & friendship.
So let's give it up for our moms. We can list off so many great things about our moms. Afterall they are the one person in life who will love you NO MATTER WHAT... right? You can count on it.
With the long list of qualities our moms possess.... what is the one thing you love most about your mom?
I'll go first. My mom always greets me with a warm and happy welcome. No matter how she is feeling or what time of day or night it is I know that if I call her on the phone or wherever I might happen to see her it's as if her voice & face lights up when she greets me. I know she will always stop what she's doing to talk to me. That just makes me feel good all over no matter how I'm feeling.

One thing I love about my mom...that she loves Jesus and strives to honor him, even (and especially) when life would have otherwise.

My mom would do anything for her kids, especially when it came to supporting us in all the numerous activities we were/are involved in. From the games to the concerts to the awards ceremonies, she (and my dad) were always there. Several weeks ago they drove 2 1/2 hours just to hang out with me for a several hours. Just to give you a glimpse...my younger brother is a coach and they still make it a priority to attend the majority of the games he coaches.

I hope I did a decent job of covering this in my post, but if I had to name one thing I love about my mom it would be her Christ like servant's attitude. Because of that attitude she has always been there for whatever was needed at the time, may that be a loving hug, a ride to the ball park, a word of wisdom or a listening ear.

Oh and the woman can cook!!!!!!!!!

This is very belated, I know, but it is harder to respond to a tribute of which you are the subject. It is a general kudo to Mothers everywhere, I realize, but being "the Mom" of the author makes me feel humbled and grateful for her flowery words of recognition. Thank you, Meems, for your post on this day of days, when all of us Moms everywhere are sugar-coated in spite of our mess-ups, our failings, our oversights, and our self-disdain of what more we could have done as a Mother. My biggest brag is the Mom you yourself were to your own children, as clarified by your own offspring in their accolades of you. Not that I can take full credit for that, but just to know I may have had some influence on your destiny in the raising of your family makes me very proud of being 'your Mom'.

P.S. I loved the opening poem as it surely tells the story of every Mother's desire.
