He Calls Me Friend

God Almighty, Lord of Glory, You have called me friend...

God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

...and since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ... and since we were restored to friendship with God by the death of his Son while were still his enemies...

So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God all because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us in making us friends of God.
(taken from Rom. 5: 8-11)

Whenever the enemy comes against you today, remind him and yourself you are a friend of God. A son or daughter yes, but also a friend. No matter what you've done or what's been done to you, God is still your friend. You see, His love isn't based on what we've done or haven't done. His love is based on Himself. He IS love. None of us deserve it. None of us can "do" anything to get it-- other than accept it-- it is a gift.

No need to feel down or defeated about any circumstance in this life because the God of the universe holds you in the palm of His hand and He is your Father and friend.

No fooling! :-)

Awesome post and awesome reminder. I needed to be reminded. Sometimes no matter how much I know that I can not earn God's love I find myself feeling ashamed if I fall short. Yet each and everytime I run back to His waiting arms they are open and accepting.

Believe me, I need to be reminded as well. Most often the inclinations I have to write about are the very things I need to hear over and over again.

There's a Maggie B song I love called "just come in" that goes something like this... "what do I see you dragging up here- is that for your atoning?... I know you're sorry, I've seen your tears... you don't have to show me... what makes you think you must make that go away... I forgot when I forgave... wish you would too... just come in...just leave that right there... love does not care... just come in... lay your heart right here... you should never fear."

It always reminds me of His mercy in a way I can picture in mind.

I'll agree with everyone else...great reminder.

NT said, "Sometimes no matter how much I know that I cannot earn God's love I find myself feeling ashamed if I fall short." The only thing I would change (for me personally) is the "if" to "when". However, the key that it is me who is feeling ashamed...it isn't coming from any where else. As NT said He is there with "His waiting arms".

Yesterday I heard a song on the radio on my way home from work. I honestly don't know if I had heard it before and I am not entirely sure that I agree with everything that it said. BUT there was one line that really stuck out to me. "I'm down on my knees in need of a friend, And I find you waiting there for me."

I think the key in both instances is that He is the one waiting. He hasn't gone any where.

Meems- I think I may have to buckle and finally download some of this Maggie B that you and mlm are always quoting. The only song that I associate with her "Soul Tattoo" which just makes me chuckle.

mlm: a certain 'dude' has the CD and listens to that version over and over and over...

jane: because the love I'm victim of is the kind of love you can never erase...love like this will never fade away... like a soul tattoo!

Come on you know you've got to love it.

Who is Maggie B?

Sorry... Margaret Becker. If you want to download anything I can lend you all of her CD's... no need to spend $$$ at i-tunes. Unfortunately there aren't any good you-tube videos of her singing.

ahhh... yes you would recall that correctly. Great memories for me. Some really rocky times in my life around then - those days with my children were the treasures I held onto to keep me steady. Maggie B was right there with us singing me to glory many a day when I needed to be brought out of my 'self'.

Hey- thanks for the remembrance.
